Associations
Manage state-level associations and their chapters.
Overview
Associations are state or provincial-level organizations that operate under a national organization. For example, "California FBLA" is an association under the FBLA national organization. Each association contains chapters (typically schools), and optionally regions, that belong to that state/province.
Viewing Associations
- Navigate to Settings > Administration > Associations in the menu bar.
- The page lists all associations you have access to.
- National Admins will see a Filter by Organization dropdown to narrow the list to a specific national organization.
- Each association card shows the association name, its parent national organization, state, and the number of chapters it contains.
Creating an Association
Only users with a national-level scope can create new associations.
- Click Add Association at the top of the page.
- A form appears with the following fields:
- National Organization — select the parent national organization (auto-set for users with a national-level scope)
- Association Name — the name of the association (e.g., "California FBLA")
- State/Province — the US state or Canadian province the association represents (international associations are coming soon)
- Contact Email — the primary contact email for the association
- Click Save to create the association.
Editing an Association
- Find the association in the list.
- Click the Settings icon on the association card. This will take you to a management page where you can edit various details.
Creating Regions in an Association
You can create Regions within an association to help manage chapters and conferences. For example, you may want to create a Region for "Northern California" and "Southern California" to organize chapters, create regional conferences, and allow regional administrators access to data within their area of responsibility.
To manage regions within an association, navigate to Regions in the menu bar, or you can click the Settings icon on the association card and then click Regions to open the Regions page.
If you've set up membership syncing with your national organization, you can choose to automatically create and manage regions based on the regions defined in your membership system.
Viewing Chapters in an Association
Each association card shows a count of its chapters. To manage the chapters within an association, navigate to Chapters. If you manage more than one association, you can filter by association using the filter dropdowns.
Auto-Import Membership Data
If supported for your national organization, you can auto-import your chapters and members from your national organization's membership system. To enable this, click on the Settings icon on the association card and then click Membership Sync to open the Membership Sync settings.
You must contact CTSO Central support to enable this feature for your association. If your national organization uses CTSO Central for membership, this feature won't be available.
