Access Management
Learn about how Roles & Permissions make CTSO Central customizable for you.
Access in CTSO Central is controlled by two things:
Your Role — what you're allowed to do (e.g., view-only, manage, etc.)
Your Scope — where you're allowed to do it (e.g., your chapter, your state, all states, etc.)
For example:
Chapter Viewer at a specific chapter can only view data for that chapter.
Chapter Admin at a specific chapter can create, edit, and delete for that chapter.
Association Admin can manage all chapters, conferences, and regions in their association.
Regional Admin can manage all chapters and conferences in their region.
National Admin can manage everything, everywhere, within their national organization, including all associations, regions, chapters, conferences, and members.
Understanding Roles & Scopes
What is a Role?
A role defines what you can do in the system. Think of it as a job title with specific permissions:
- Can you create new records?
- Can you edit existing records?
- Can you delete records?
- Can you view reports?
- Can you approve decisions?
What is a Scope?
A scope defines where you can do it. It's the organizational boundary of your access. For example, users with a Scope to their Chartered Association is limited to data contained at their Chartered Association and any chapters underneath them.
Your scope determines which organizations, chapters, and data you can access.
Administrators can also create custom roles with fine-grained permission templates. See Roles & Permissions for details.
Users can never go above their role & scope. For example, a Chapter Admin scoped only to their chapter cannot edit other chapters or change settings for their association.
