Scores
Input scores, manage finalists, and view results for your conference's competitive events.
Overview
Scores is the heart of the CMS. It's where you can view all scores for your competitive event, input them, view results, calculate placements, and advance students between rounds. To switch between events, you can use the dropdown search bar to select your event from the list, or start typing an event (or its acronym) to search for it. You can also select the category and round you wish to view scores for. If you don't see an option to select a round, it means there is only one round configured for this event.

Participant IDs
To keep the scoring grid clean, participant IDs are not displayed. To find participant IDs for an individual student or team, simply right-click on the participant's name. A small popup will appear with all participant IDs.
If you're on a mobile device, you can simply long-press on a participant's name to view their participant ID.
Viewing Individual Exam Scores in a Team Exam
If you're scoring a team exam, you may want to view the individual scores for each student on the team. To do this, simply click the team score box in the scoring grid. A popup will appear with the individual scores for each student on the team.
If you're on a mobile device, you can simply long-press on a team's score box to view the individual scores for each student on the team.
Entering Scores
Entering scores is as simple as clicking the text field next to a student's name in their particular scoring category. Type the score value, click outside the field, and the score will be auto-saved.
No-Shows and Disqualifications
You can mark a student as a no-show or disqualified by clicking the checkmark next to "NS" or "DQ" in the column for that student. This will update the student's status accordingly and they will not be eligible for round advancement or awards.
Notes and Comments
During tabulation, you might need to add notes to a particular student entry. For example, you might want to record a reason why a no-show or a disqualification is being recorded. To do this, click the icon next to the student's name in the notes column. This will open a text field where you can enter your note. Click Save to save your note.
Clearing Placements
To clear all placements for a round, click the Clear Places button. This will clear all placements for the round but all student scores will remain as they were entered.
Clearing Scores
To clear all entered scores for a round, click the Clear Scores button. This will clear all scores and remove them from your CMS.
This action is irreversible and will remove all scores that were posted to CMS. If you need to enter scores again, you will either need to re-input them manually or post them from the Judge Evaluations platform, Secure Online Testing, or Transmit (depending on which platform you're using for that particular scoring category and event).
Finalize a Round
When you are finished with scoring a particular competitive event's round, it's a good practice to finalize the round. This will lock the scores and prevent any further changes from being made.
To finalize a round, click the Finalize Round button. To undo, click the Unfinalize Round button.
Lock a Round
Sometimes, you might want to assign different competitive events to different members of the tabulation staff, or you might want to prevent editing of scores by anyone except for you. You can do this by locking a round. When you lock a round, nobody except the person who locked the round can edit the scores.
To lock a round, click the Lock Round button. To unlock, click the Unlock Round button.
Calculating Placements
Placements are calculated and saved per-round. To calculate total scores and placements for a round, click the Calc. Places button. In the popup window, you can then configure how you'd like to select and calculate placements:
Selection Method:
- Top Overall: Calculate places based on the top X students in this round, regardless of section, highest score to lowest.
- Top from Each Section: Take the top X students from each section, sort by score (highest to lowest), and rank in order. (also commonly referred to as "stack-ranking")
Advancing Students Between Rounds
CTSO Central supports creating multiple different rounds of competition. If you've created multiple rounds, you can advance students between rounds by clicking the Advance button. This will open a popup window where you can select how you'd like to advance students.
You can use the same selection methods for advancing students between rounds as you do for calculating placements, or you can manually select individual students to advance. Once you determine which students will be advancing, click the Apply Changes button to advance them to the next round.
If you need to reset the students who have advanced to a round, you can click the Reset button. This will remove any students that you have advanced to the next round.
